Colours are a vibrant manifestation of the
nature that can be used to essay a range of emotions, situations, and
vistas. Colours are made from different pigments that are either natural
or synthetic in their origin. Traditionally, artists prepared their
own colours, with each one following a unique method that s/he
considered most ideal. However, with the arrival of mass-manufactured paints,
most artists switched to these. Cycle 20 at the Piramal Art
Residency focuses on artists who make their own colours. We
invite artists who consider the making of paint a vital aspect
of their art practice and create their own colours, either using natural
or synthetic sources. Apply and explore the world of making colour.
